Note: At the moment my site is going though a redesign as I eliminate the Flash components. Currently the only galleries that I have on-line are from a recent trip to Southern Africa (Botswana and Zambia). Thanks for visiting.
About the Photographer
As a photographer I enjoy capturing moments in time that say something about the people and places around me. My work tends to focus on subjects as they are acting, interacting or reacting to their circumstances and the world around them.
In his book “What the Dog Saw” Malcom Gladwell writes, “Our instinct as humans, after all, is to assume that most things are not interesting. We flip through the channels on the television and reject ten before we settle on one. We go to a bookstore and look at twenty novels before we pick the one that we want. We filter and rank and judge. We have to. There’s just so much out there. But if you want to be a writer, you have to fight that instinct every day.” I feel the same way about photography. There are millions of moments that we observe every day. The trick is to capture them in a way the best expresses the moment. Sometimes I miss that moment and other times it never develops, but the process, the hunt, continues to keep me engaged.
I began taking photographs as a child. I started with instamatic and Polaroid cameras using money from my paper route and odd jobs. While I’ve had occasions to worked as a “professional event photographer”, I prefer earning my living doing something else; giving me the freedom to photograph whatever and whenever I want. It’s been my good fortune that my chosen profession, computer technology, and my passion of photography now overlap to such a great extent.
Since I don’t make my living with my photography it gives me the opportunity to give back though it. I had the pleasure of working with a number of fantastic non-profit organizations taking photographs of their events. I’m located in the Boston area and if I can be of service, please feel free to contact me.
